Blizzard says no Blizzcon this year

On January 26, 2012 by Aaron Meehan

Blizzard has announced that there will be Blizzcon this year as they wish to focus on the Battle.net world championship and completing the various games they have in production.

So the premier event for Blizzard fans will be the 2012 Battle.net World Championship which is set to take place in Asia towards the end of 2012. The championship will feature Starcraft II and World of Warcraft Area tournaments.

The reason for Blizzcon not happening this year is down to the fact that the studio is heavily focusing on finishing Diablo III, Mists of Pandaria and Heart of the Swarm. This does make sense as organising a large scale event like Blizzcon likely does take away time from development as you have to rush stuff for presentation etc.

Blizzard fans should not worry as Blizzcon will return as scheduled in 2013. So I guess we will have to wait until then to hopefully find out what the mysterious ‘Project Titan’ is that Blizzard is developing.
