MechWarrior Online set to use CryENGINE 3
Crytek has revealed that Piranha Games will be using CryENGINE 3 for the free to play game MechWarrior Online.
MechWarrior Online was only just recently revealed after Piranha worked for so long not revealing too many details of the game and it is good to see what engine the game will use and it is interesting to see how the make the CryENGINE 3 work for their game.
Carl Jones, director of Global Business Development CryENGINE said “Here at Crytek we are incredibly proud that Piranha Games have selected CryENGINE 3 to power their forthcoming MechWarrior Online game.”
Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games explained why the decided on CryENGINE 3 by saying “It is definitely the best choice for us: Both the character animation pipeline with the procedurally and physics based animations and the destruction system fit our goals perfectly and allow us to develop a truly unique AAA experience based on the award-winning BattleTech Universe.”
CryENGINE 3 is Crytek’s premier engine and was recently used to make Crysis 2.
MechWarrior Online is set for release in 2012 and will be exclusive to the PC.
