Square Enix reveal Final Fantasy 14 version 2.0
Square Enix has announced plans to revamp the struggling FF14 MMORPG with version 2.0 and more.
The version 2.0 upgrade will see changes across the game which includes a complete redesign of current maps, new graphics engine, new server design, a fully renewed UI (concept for the UI can be seen at the top of the page) and the expansion of in-game community content.
New 2.0 in-game community content will include (all listed content below will begin to appear in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013):
- Additional in-game community options (free company establishment).
- In-game delivery and mail system.
- Player housing.
- PVP content.
- Revamping of retainer system and market.
The Final Fantasy 14 unbilled period which has dominated most of the games life span will be ending between late November and Early December of this year. At present all accounts are on auto renewal but with the subscription fee coming in the auto renewal has been disabled so people will not punished for not knowing about the subscription fees coming into affect.
While FF 14 is on the PC is was supposed to be released on the PlayStation 3 and it was speculated that it would be this year, but the PS3 release date has been pushed back to a date between October and December 2012 so it will take advantages of the Version 2.0 upgrades.
Square Enix have released documents detailing the changes that will take place before and in Version 2.0 over at http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/pl/teaser/ for all to see which includes a timeline for the changes.
All new content will take time to implement and will not likely appear in game for a while, but change will be made over time slowly but surely.
