PS Vita gets a European release date

Sony has announced their latest handheld device the PlayStation Vita will be releasing Europe, Africa, and The Middle East, Australasia and North America regions February 22, 2012.

The recommended retail price for the 2 Vita models will be £229.99/€249.99 (Wi-Fi model) and £279.99/€299.99 (3G/Wi-Fi model). At present the 3G carriers have not been announced.

There are currently more than 80 Vita games in production at present which include Wipeout 2048, Little Big Planet, Uncharted Golden Abyss and more.

The Vita will feature an array of PlayStation Vita applications which will take the handheld usage beyond that of just gaming. Applications include near and party which will both enable them to keep in contact and play with people from around the world. Social networking will also feature strongly in the applications with Facebook, foursquare, Skype and Twitter all having applications on the handheld.
