Crysis coming to console
Crytek has announced the PC crippling video game “Crysis” will be coming to PS3 and Xbox 360 next month via the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live.
The game will be re-mastered for consoles by using the CryENGINE 3 which is the same engine Crysis 2 ran on.
The likely reason why the game has been put on the new engine is not because the CryENGINE 2 is outdated, but because that engine was never really optimised for consoles and it would make sense to put it on an engine that is.
Cevat Yerli, CEO of Crytek said:
“We are extremely proud of what we were able to accomplish with Crysis. We set out to create a next-generation FPS and delivered a PC experience that became a benchmark for quality – and still is for many gamers even four years later.”
“By bringing the single-player campaign to console, we believe we are again setting a new standard for quality in downloadable gaming.”
Crysis will be out October 2011 and it will cost $19.99 on the PS3 and 1,600 MS Points on the Xbox 360.
