First gameplay footage of F1 2011 emerges

On July 8, 2011 by Ash Meehan

At last Codemasters have shown of a gameplay video for the upcoming F1 2011. F1 2011 will see some changes over F1 2010, these are either from changes that were introduced into the sport by the sports governing body the FIA or things in the game that Codemasters wanted to improve from last years title.

First of all we will see KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System) and DRS (Drag Reduction System), these are 2 changes the FIA introduced into the sport.

KERS is like a power boost button which allows drivers to get an extra boost in power for a limited time and after a lap is completed the KERS charges back up to, the DRS is a system that allows the rear wing to prop up and thus reducing drag which normally occurs when you are close to another driver. DRS can only be used in limited occasions during a race and by that I mean DRS can only be activated in a area known as the DRS zone of a track but you also have to be less than a second behind the drive you are trying to pass. These 2 changes have brought nothing but good driving and overtaking to the sport and hopefully they will carry over well into the game.
The improvements Codemasters made to the game sees improved garages, paddock area, pit lane and Parc Fermé cinematics.

But I think the video below will speak better than the writing above.

F1 2011 will be released on 23 September 2011 on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
Handheld versions of the game will appear at a later date.
