Crytek almost went to Microsoft

On July 5, 2011 by Ash Meehan

It was revealed that Crytek almost became a first party developer for Microsoft. The revelation came via OXM in an interview with Microsoft Game Studio Vice President Phil Spencer.

The deal did not go through because Microsoft felt that Crytek games were to close to the style of other Xbox 360 games according to Phil Spencer.

“And it was a process of what do you guys want to do, what’s unique for us, and they were just going to do Crysis, and they’d just come out of Far Cry, and we said we’ve probably got enough military future shooters, so go do that.”

Well it would have being interesting to see Crysis as an Xbox 360 exclusive but if it had I say we would have lost a lot of features that made Crysis the powerhouse that it was considered when it came out.
