Video Games win supreme court hearing
Well over the sea in America a court case was going on about Video Games and if they should have first amendment protection. The first amendment is about the right to free speech in America.
The case began because of a California Law which wanted the government to regulate video games and not allow the industry to be self regulated by the ESRB and see the sale of Mature games to minors as a crime.
But thankfully the Supreme Court didn’t see things California’s was and voted yesterday 7-2 in not allowing the California law to come to pass and to keep the industry self regulated.
The court said after the ruling:
Psychological studies purporting to show a connection between exposure to violent video games and harmful effects on children do not prove that such exposure causes minors to act aggressively. Any demonstrated effects are both small and indistinguishable from effects produced by other media.
