World of Warcraft subscription base drops

On May 10, 2011 by Ash Meehan

For one of the first time in a long time the player base of Blizzard’s MMO World of Warcraft has dropped it was confirmed at the Activision Blizzard Conference Call yesterday. The player base has dropped from 12 million world wide to 11.4 million world wide which is a drop of 600 thousand users. For most MMOs such a drop off would be huge but even with this decrease WoW is still the most dominant MMO in the way of users.

This drop off is likely to do with the release of newer MMOs like Rift.

Also during the Conference call that Blizzard are looking at decreasing the time between expansions.
