SCE’s station.com goes down

On May 2, 2011 by Ash Meehan

Sony Computer Entertainment have taken down station.com which is used as a portal for the Sony Online Entertainment and has seen Everquest and DC Universe Online etc. go offline.

The portal was taken offline because an intrusion into the system was discovered and they felt it was wise to take the system offline (SCE did this with the Playstation Network when the intrusion was discovered last month).

Sony Online Entrainment have not said if this shut down has anything to do with the Playstation Network attack.

The shut down has come a day after Sony Computer Entertainment announced that the Playstation Network was coming back in a limited function sometime this week.

Also on the station.com website a message is on the site saying there will be an update later today.

Here is what the message says on the station.com website:

We have had to take the SOE service down temporarily. In the course of our investigation into the intrusion into our systems we have discovered an issue that warrants enough concern for us to take the service down effective immediately. We will provide an update later today (Monday).
