Today it was announced via the Mass Effect facebook page that Mass Effect 3 would be delayed until Q1 2012. Mass Effect 3 was originally scheduled for a Holiday 2011 release.

The reason for the delay was explained by Casey Hudson, Executive Producer Mass Effect series:

Mass Effect 3 will be released in the first three months of 2012. The development team is laser focused on making sure Mass Effect 3 is the biggest, boldest and best game in the series, ensuring that it exceeds everyone’s expectations.

While delays can be annoying, it is good to see that Bioware don’t want to wish Mass Effect 3 out the door.
