Duke Nukem Forever goes gold

Today is was announced that Duke Nukem Forever has gone Gold. The game which took 15 years to complete is now complete and ready to hit store shelves this June.

Christoph Hartmann who is president of 2K said at the announcement:

“Duke Nukem Forever is the game that was once thought to be unshipppable, and yet here we are, on the precipice of history. Today marks an amazing day in the annals of gaming lore, the day where the legend of Duke Nukem Forever is finally complete and it takes that final step towards becoming a reality.”

Duke Nukem Forever was thought to be dead back in 2009, but when Gearbox Software and 2K Games announced its comeback it was almost certain to be completed.

Randy Pitchford president of Gearbox Software summed it up in the announcement by saying:

“Always bet on Duke, I did,”

Duke Nukem Forever is scheduled for release on June 10th internationally and on June 14 in North America. Also don’t forget those who are Duke Nukem First Access Club Members will be able to play the demo on June 3rd.

Update: An image was released by Gearbox to celebrate the occasion.

  • Thanks to the excellent press release. I have managed to cancel my Dukenukem order for the PC so I could reorder the ‘Balls of Steel’ Collectors edition :D
