Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack 1 preview

On January 17, 2011 by Ash Meehan

Treyarch have released a video showing off the new Call of Duty: Black ops map pack entitled First Strike. First Strike will feature 5 new maps. 4 multiplayer and 1 zombie map. The maps are called:

  • Ascension (zombie map)
  • Kowloon (multiplayer)
  • Discovery (multiplayer)
  • Stadium (multiplayer)
  • Berlin Wall (multiplayer)

Unfortunately in the video there was no footage of the Ascension map, but we did get a good look at the multiplayer maps.

Kowloon:

This is based off the town from the single player campaign, but built from the ground up. Its main feature is a zip wire that can be used by players to get from one end of the map to another quickly, but as a trade off you are completely exposed. The map looks great for hiding and for sniping on the rooftops.

Discovery:

Discovery is an old abandoned German Antarctic outpost. The main feature is a chasm where players will likely be fighting over the cross over from one side to another. Also players can collapse the snow bridges leading to people falling to their death (in the video you see a stick grenade take out part of a bridge).

Berlin Wall:

Berlin wall is the largest of the new maps. You can fight on both sides of the Berlin Wall (East Germany and West Germany). The map is supposed to be good for those who love sniping due to a lot of elevated positions and there is a no mans land which has auto turrets in the area (so probably an area to avoid).

Stadium:

Stadium is close quarters map which will likely have the player looking over their shoulder.

Now here is the video that Treyarch released of the new map pack:

The DLC will be coming on February 1st on Xbox 360 and will cost 1,200 microsoft points (around €15).

There is no release date yet for the PS3 or PC versions.
