less than 60 days left of SGR

On November 18, 2010 by Ash Meehan

Well it has become official Stargate Resistance which was formed from the fires of Stargate Worlds like a phoenix rising from the ashes has being shot down.

Dark Comet Games Kathryn Dutchin broke the news yesterdays (17th November) on the Stargate Resistance website and forums that Stargate Resistance would only be up for 60 more days and the servers would be turned off on January 15 2011, just short of 1 year of a full release.

The reason for the complete and total collapse of Stargate Resistance is due to MGM Interactive terminating their agreement with Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment (which was rumored to have happened but this 100% confirms it). It would also me mentioned that the game has stopped being sold on the same day as the announcement.

From my own opinion it was always nice to get to play a fully realized Stargate SG-1 game after Stargate SG1 The Alliance failed and that had left no SG game on a console or PC. But than SGW came and went what now appears to be the way of Stargate SG1 The Alliance, but Stargate Resistance had brought hope of a fully licensed Stargate Game and for its short time out it delivered a good Stargate experience, but alas nothing lasts forever.

SGGamingInfo would like to thank all the developers involved in the production, overseeing and maintenance of the game Stargate Resistance for working though hardship of seeing one company collapse and many other issues.

Also on a personal level I would like to thank all the staff at DCG and CME who helped SGGamingInfo with agreements like allowing myself to show of character models, music etc.

But hey there is 59 days now a miracle has happened before what are the odds we would see another one?

Also here is what Kathryn Dutchin said:

Dear Valued Customer,

On November 16, 2010, the License Agreement between Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment, Inc. and MGM Interactive, Inc. expired. As a result, Cheyenne will no longer be able to offer Stargate Resistance for sale to new customers. However, in the best interests of our customers, game play will be provided for a period of 60 days (until January 15, 2011) to customers who purchased Stargate Resistance prior to November 16, 2010. Look for more information as it becomes available.

On a personal note, the Stargate Resistance team would like to thank each and every one of our community members for the support you have shown.

  • You kidding me…..NOOOOOOOOOOOO……………

  • Thank you to the SGW/SGR Forum Community
Thank you to my fellow SGGI staff members
Thank you to the SGW/SGR Development teams
I’m Upset and sad. SGR was the first officially Marketed Stargate Game appoved by MGM and it goes under in a year. We at SGGI and the SGW/SGR Forum Community have been so supportive of these games. Why is Stargate, that god knows has a massive following, so poor at maintaining a game for the masses? And it’s not the developers fault, they have given us the pleasure of playing some of the best months one could have being a fan of the Stargate Franchise. The Devs were just as big of fans as we are. I guess in these economic times a CEO’s greed overcomes everything else when it boils down to it. It’s sad how the court treated DCG like a redheaded stepchild in the decision to find in favor of CME/CMG when they just took the money and ran. it was the people that endedup creating DCG that kept SGR going for us. I hope there’s still another official Stargate game in our future.

    !VIVA STARGATE REVOLUTION!

These are my views and Opinions

  • The universe is big. It’s vast and complicated and ridiculous and sometimes, very rarely, impossible things just happen and we call them miracles… and that’s a theory. Nine hundred years and I’ve never seen one yet, but if this game is revived I will have.
