World of Warcraft gets another real money mount

On June 11, 2014 by Ash Meehan

Blizzard has released another real money mount for their moneymaking MMORPG, World of Warcraft. The new mount “Warforged Nightmare” will set you back €25/$30, which makes it the most expensive mount on the store.

While I am ok with the idea of selling items for real money, as long as they do not give you a major advantage over those who decide not to spend money, I have to say that I am less than thrilled to see Blizzard doing stuff like this. If World of Warcraft was a free to play game I would be ok with the selling of a mount, but WOW is a monthly subscription based game with millions of players.

Mounts, which cost around €20, are not the only thing Blizzard is selling via their Blizzard Store. The company is also selling in-game pets, which cost €10 each, vanity helmet, which cost €12 each, and worst of all (in my opinion) a level 90 character boost for €50.

It will be interesting to see what Blizzard will do regarding the sale of real-money items, I highly doubt they will stop, but will they go behold the cosmetic (the level 90 boost makes a degree of sense as levelling has become a chore in WOW) and add items that alter the game for players (experience boosters etc.).
