Following from a barrage of bad press, EA has announced that they will be suspending real-money purchases within Star Wars Battlefront II.

The news came after fans complained about the pay to win nature of the game’s loot box system and the ability to use real money to unlock iconic Star Wars heroes such as Luke Skywalker.

The statement, which can be read in full on the official Battlefront II website explains the reason behind the move to disable in-game purchases. The important part of the statement was the following paragraph. “We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing and tuning. This means that the option to purchase crystals in the game is now offline, and all progression will be earned through gameplay. The ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we’ve made changes to the game. We’ll share more details as we work through this.”

It is worth noting that the above quote does state that the ability to spend real-world money will return to the game, but the question is when the return will they provide the same benefits as they do now, or will EA change things up.
