Gunjack (PSVR) review
Gunjack is an arcade shooter where you take on the role of gun turret operator on a mining vessel, your mission as a gunner is to protect the vessel from any hostile targets. Shooting in Gunjack is straightforward, as you just look at your target and press the R2 button to shoot. Honestly, I love how CCP Games decided to make targeting as simple as looking at an enemy it means even those who have never played a shooter in their life can easily pick up and play the game. Of course, like most arcade shooters you do pick up special weapons, armour and health packs along the way.
In terms of story, Gunjack has none, the game is simply a progression ever more difficult missions that require you to take down various enemy ships. When it comes to enemy ships, the game has a decent variety of enemies to fight, with the main drone enemies alternating between rushing, firing missiles or just simply being a pain to hit. Going past the basic drones, there are more challenging enemies including large ships that fire missile barrages, although if you are quick you can easily overcome them.
It is difficult to find a fault with Gunjack, but no game can be truly perfect, and so with Gunjack its only major fault is the fact that some texture look very flat and if you notice them it can be immersion breaking.
Gunjack is the perfect introduction into the world of VR, as it combines straightforward controls with fun fast-paced missions.
