Over 4.6 million people take part in Destiny Beta
Activision has announced that over 4.6 million people took part in the ten day long Destiny Beta, Bungie’s upcoming shared world sci-fi shooter. However, Activision did not state how many of those who took part had pre-ordered the game.
As you might imagine Activision were pleased with the numbers, which was according to their statistics 4,638,937 unique players. In a press statement Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision Publishing said, “This is the biggest beta of this console generation by a wide margin and the largest console beta ever for a new video game IP to date.” Bungie’s COO Pete Parsons simply said, “We were totally blown away by the number of people who played the beta.”
It seems like Bungie’s first game post Microsoft is set to be a success. Although we won’t fully know if the game is a success or not until Destiny is released on September 9th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 users.
