During Sony’s CES keynote speech, Andrew House, president of Sony Computer Entertainment, revealed that the company has sold 4.2 million PlayStation 4s as of December 28th.

This huge figure overshadows Microsoft’s Xbox One, which has sold over 3 million by the end of 2013. Although, it is important to point out that Sony’s PlayStation 4 is available in more countries than Microsoft’s Xbox One, but even if you factor that in the difference in sales figures between is rather surprising.

The figure does kind of explains why trying to buy a PlayStation 4 is next to impossible, at present I’m on a waiting list to receive one from GameStop.
