Return to the past with “Old school Runescape” servers
Sick of all the changes Jagex made to Runescape? If you are, you are in luck because Jagex has set up a poll for players to decide to set up some “Old School Runescape” servers.
The old school Runescape servers will allow people to play the 2007 version of Runescape. Everything from Runescape up until August 2007 will be available.
The poll setup by Jagex contains several targets, which reached increases the amount of support the old school Runescape servers will get. The targets are 50,000, 250,000, 500,000 and 750,000 votes. Votes in the poll can only done by Runescape members who pay the subscription fee.
The minimal target, 50,000 votes will see the Old School Runescape servers setup. The servers will receive no content updates and only critical maintenance. There will also be an additional membership fee of about $15 to access Old School Runescape.
250,000 votes – will see the inclusion of a small development team, basic maintenance and little improvement and a membership fee of around $5.
500,000 votes – will see the 2007 severs getting a dedicated development team, no extra membership fee and regular maintenance.
750,000 or more votes – the 2007 servers will get a larger dedicated development team, no membership fee and the free area of the game will be available to everyone. The servers will also receive continuous maintenance.
The poll will remain open for two weeks and at the time of writing the poll has received 115,643. This figure means that the minimal target has being reached and as such the “Old School Runescape” servers will be setup.
