I warn you this is going to be brief because these demos were SHORT. No seriously…i thought the Zelda demo was shorter but this was insane.
Lets start with Supermario 3D. With this game expect a standard mario game but in 3D. It does not really offer much new to actually keep
you hooked from what i played. You had a choice of 4 different…lets say maps from different worlds. One was your standard mario borthers
side scrolling. There were a couple of neat 3D tricks they did with this level like how you could switch tracks i guess. By tracks i mean
when moving along the screen you can move into different lanes to get around things and solve a puzzle etc. The second was again side scrolling
in 3D will the screen moving along and if you were to slow it would catch up and kill you. Nothing new there.
The 3rd level was in the Mario 64 style and it was somewhat fun but nothing to impressive. Finally you had a boss battle. Jump on his head 3 times and
you win.
So that was about 15 minuets of my time wasted.
So Mario Kart 7
A choice of your usual 8 characters followed by car customization which i have to say was interesting. Im not sure if it made much of a difference in the demo and the only gadget i could attach was the glider. So i was taken across a mini grand prix over 3 maps and it was pretty fun. The graphics are nice and all the usual traps are back as well as im cool new environments. You can now drive underwater in some levels (Don’t ask me how they can breathe down there because i have no clue). Also a couple of cool 3D scenes like driving up a mountain while boulders were coming down out of the screen a little.
Again it was fun but the demo did not really show anything new apart from the gadgets you can attach to you car and some customization options.
I told you this would be brief.
Super Mario 3D Land will be out on Novermber 2nd while Mario Kart has a date of December 2nd.
