Star Trek Online free to play details dropped

Cryptic Studios have dropped details about the free to play version of their mmo “Star Trek Online” and have said that it will be out before the end of this year.

When the free to play version is launched the game will have to player groups which are Gold members and Silver players. Gold members are those who pay a sub and silver players are those who play for free.

Cryptic also released a comparison chart of what people can see the differences between the 2 options and funny enough the options aren’t too drastically different from each other.

Well let is look at what free to players can’t get or have restrictions on.

  • Only 2 character slots.
  • Have to purchase additional bridge officer slots.
  • Inventory and bank are both maxed at 48 slots each.
  • No foundry access.
  • No Priority login access.
  • No Veteran Rewards.
  • Limited in-game chat, in-game mail, forum and customer support
  • Ads on in-game voice chat.

  • This doesn’t surprise me. I picked up the game when it first came out, and after the first month was bored with it.

    I absolutely loved the space combat of the game, and absolutely despised the ground combat of the game. It was cheaply done and badly implemented all around.
