Crysis 2 no longer on Steam
So Crysis 2 has being officially removed from Valves digital distribution shop Steam, then after this was done Crysis 2 on EA’s new digital shop has the “only on Origin” tag but to confuse the issue Crysis 2 still appears on other digital distribution shops like Direct 2 Drive.
Gamasutra tried to contact Valve and EA, but only EA responded by saying.
“It’s unfortunate that Steam has removed Crysis II from their service. This was not an EA decision or the result of any action by EA.
Steam has imposed a set of business terms for developers hoping to sell content on that service – many of which are not imposed by other online game services. Unfortunately, Crytek has an agreement with another download service which violates the new rules from Steam and resulted in its expulsion of Crysis II from Steam.
Crysis II continues to be available on several other download services including Amazon, GameStop and Origin.com.”
So from my understanding the removal came around because EA broke some terms with Valve on the sale of the game as EA stated, but the question is what did EA break? I guess these are one of these lawyer things that I hate to get involved in, hopefully those who have bought Crysis 2 via Steam are not adversely affected by this.
