Exclusive: Final word from Jim Brown
Earlier today we here at SGGamingInfo talked to creator of Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment and Dark Comet Games Jim Brown on the shut down of the online third person shooter Stargate Resistance.
I am sad that the game is shut down, but there has been no money or team to develop the expansions to the game for many months. Without the key improvements we’d intended, the game was never going to break out and attract a larger audience.
I had a lot of fun working on it, despite all the politics and mess the company found itself in. The team did a fantastic job with too little money and almost no time. I can never fully express my amazement at what they were able to pull off. And this was a team that had gone many months without pay on SGW, and suffered similar trials on SGR. They believed in the license, and the project, and stuck with it to the end.
CME will restructure, and regroup, and if the will is there on the part of the financial partners, they may pick up the mantle again, or offer it to another developer. I can only hope, since the rank abilities, zat and some of the other goodies were poised to take SGR to the next level, and turn it into a game with real mainstream appeal.
It appeared that Jim had hopes to turn Stargate Resistance into a game that had much more mainstream appeal with the goodies they were hoping to add before the fall. But from now we will never know.
